The trials and tribulations of my “Season’s Greetings” CASE card

I follow Connie Stewart and love her quick & simple, yet beautiful cards she makes. This one caught my eye and I decided to CASE it…with a few modifications. Now, she did said it was quick and simple…hmm…I always seem to make things more complicated! I decided to heat emboss my greeting…oops..first time I forgot to use my embossing buddy and had “extras” all over the front and ink from the edge of the stamp. (and the lines were made after I tried version 2 and failed with free-hand. I put this piece back on the Simply Scored board to see if it would work that way – and it did-whew!).

Well, okay, second attempt was better. But then I decided I wanted to add Cherry Cobbler lines on the score lines. Of course I did this after the card was completely assembled. Another boo-boo. Oh my…a free-hand drawer I am not, even with the score lines there.

Third attempt. Gave up on heat embossing and just stamped greeting, Cherry Cobbler lines high-lighted just after I scored them and still on my Simply Scored board. And ta-da…

So, many lessons learned, but I’m pleased with my final CASE of Connie’s WOW card! And just so you, everyone makes mistakes, sometimes many, before they come up with a finished card you like! And sometimes the boo-boos are better than your original idea! Don’t be afraid to keep trying until it looks just right to you!

Here’s the inside which went much better, 1st try worked – LOL!

Thanks Connie for your inspiration, I just had to add the “sweat & tears” to get it made.

Here’s the supplies for this card.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have you decided on your Christmas or Holiday cards yet? Let me know if you need any supplies, help, or suggestions.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care…

These stockings are from the All is Bright DSP and they look so real that you think you could feel the felt. I thought this was such a fun card to make and can’t wait to share it friends.

I added a piece of Whisper White that I dry embossed with the Cable Knit TIEF. Looks like a warm winter sweater with stockings for the chimney. The greeting comes the Hearts Come Home stamp set. I thought it fit with the cable knit, stockings and Christmas.

Here’s what I used for the card:

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you are enjoying my Christmas cards and there’s a lot more to come. I told you I couldn’t stop once I got all my Stampin’ Up! Christmas stuff.

Seasonal wreath for the holidays

I still have a lot of ideas for using more of the All is Bright DSP, but today I’m sharing a card I made with the coordinating Merry Christmas to All bundle which includes a stamp set and thinlits dies and the new Seasonal Wreath textured impressions embossing folder.

This time I made a square card with the Seasonal Wreath and the “Happy Holidays” as the focal point. I love the new thick TIEF folders because they make a deep impression that you can feel on the card. Don’t you just love this embossed wreath?!

I added the new Real Red rhinestones for extra holiday sparkle, stamped the “Happy” and die cut the “Holidays” out to adhere on top. This year I’m trying to stick to quick and easy, yet dramatic Christmas and Holiday cards so I can make a lot of one design quickly! I make and send a lot of Christmas cards.

Here’s what I used to make this card:

Thanks for stopping by today. Tomorrow’s card uses the the new Stitched Sweets dies and the Warm Hearted hostess stamp set.

All is Bright..for Christmas

That’s the name of one of the new Stampin’ Up! Holiday suites.

My card today uses the FMS357 sketch from last week, but I didn’t get it made in time to submit it. Still it’s a wonderfully simple template for a quick holiday card that you can make tons in very little time! Only a few steps and you’re finished.

The “old-fashioned” lightbulbs side from the All is Bright DSP was perfect for my contemporary card. On the other side of the bulbs is this green abstract which is on the left side of my card.

I added a strip of Whisper White and stamped the greeting “Merry & Bright” with the Merry Christmas to All stamp set. A great set to have with all it’s word pieces and coordinating dies of “Merry” “Christmas” or “Happy” “Holidays” (see my cards next week using these dies) to help you create various greetings.

I don’t have a picture of the inside, but I used the bulb stamps from the coordinating Making Christmas Bright stamp set to repeat the “Merry and Bright” inside on the bulbs. You could either stamp them directly on your card base. Or stamp on a separate scrap of paper, punch them out and add to the inside.

Here’s what I used to make this card:
