Top Ten Crafting Essentials

March 23, 2024 Leave a Comment

Are you an avid crafter and love to make cards? Or are you new to the world of paper crafting and don’t know where to start? No matter where you fall on the crafting spectrum, here are the top ten essentials for your crafting success.

#1 – Paper Snips

A good pair of scissors is essential for easily and accurately fussy cutting your images, ribbons, and twines. My favorite is Stampin’ Up! paper snips. You will save time and frustration with these scissors on hand.

#2 – Sticky Business

Stampin’ Up! has many types of adhesives for paper crafting. The most versatile is Multipurpose Liquid Glue. It allows you to move & nudge your paper pieces into perfect position each time. And it’s strong, dependable, and sticks!

To make your projects pop, you need Stampin’ Dimensionals. Just peel & stick to any pieces you want to stand up off your background. It adds an extra wow to your projects.

#4 Get Inky with Colors

Classic Ink Spots

Ink, ink, ink, where do you start? With the Classic Stampin’ Spots assortment. The Spots assortment is in a small 1″ square size, perfect for starting your ink collection. You get these 8 colors: Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Real Red, and Shaded Spruce. Then add the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and you are ready to stamp.

#5 Clear Blocks

You’ll need one or two of these to stamp your images. The most common sizes to start your collection are the Clear Blocks D and E. You can add the others as you need them.

#6 Now Say Something

There are so many stamp sets available, so start with these two basic word sets and you’ll have most of your greetings covered. Charming Sentiments Stamp Set includes various sentiments in different stylistic fonts designed to be used for all occasions. With this set, say thank you and congratulations, wish happy birthday and good luck and show people you care.

#7 Punch it Out

Punches are a great way to cut out stamped images that add interest and depth to your projects. The punches are high quality, affordable, and easy to use. Start with the classic Modern Oval punch for your paper crafting collection. The timeless shape of this punch will have you reaching for it again and again! Use the negative space (the piece left over after you punch out your oval) to frame a sentiment or image of your choice when card making or scrapbooking.

#8 Your Blank Canvas

With so many card stock colors, and such gorgeous Designer Series Papers, where do you begin? Start simple with a set of Basic White note cards and envelopes. There are 20 cards and 20 envelopes ready for you to make and send a card. The folded cards are 5″ x 3-1/2″ and the Envelopes are 5-1/8″ x 3-5/8″, perfect for sending greetings to family and friends.

#9 Wet, Wipe, WOW!

Once you are finished stamping, you need to clean your stamps before storing them. The Simply Shammy is a reusable stamp cleaning cloth that makes stamp cleaning effortless. Just add water, then wipe stamps on the shammy. The durable, thick shammy easily cleans ink from narrow grooves. No lint, no chemicals—just clean! **Note: Ink will stain shammy but won’t transfer to your fingers or other stamps. It’s portable 5″ x 7″ size fits neatly in a stamp case for storing.
