Black and white cards can be dramatic and stunning, or very elegant or somber, all depending on your choice of designer series papers, the layout you use and your choice of the greeting stamp. Last week I shared two of my black & white cards with a Pop of Pink DSP. This week I wanted to show you how versatile the Pop of Pink paper can be by using the other side for several cards! As I said several times, if you don’t like the designs one side of Stampin’ Up!’s designer series papers, turn it over to get a whole other choice of designs.
So for today’s card I picked out all the black & white patterns to see how many different designs I had and what combinations I could use to create my next card. I found four of the patterns worked quite well together (at least for me!), and I used an old template from several years ago before I had a blog. You can see the card here.
I made several versions of the patterns to get this final one I liked for my card. I thought the black background patterns worked better as the bigger rectangles and the white background ones as the smaller pieces. And I felt it made my banner tag stand out more on the card. I mounted all the pieces onto a Whisper White background with space all around, again to make it stand out more on the Basic Black card base. I punched the “tag banner” end using my Banner Triple punch for both the black and white tags. I stamped the greeting from One Big Meaning in VersaMark then heat embossed it with Black embossing powder. It’s hard to see on the card but it really make the greeting pop off the tag. I added a piece of the silver metallic ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. So my card’s not “all black & white”…there’s some silver in their also! Since it’s a black card base, I added a piece of Whisper White on the inside to add my hand-written greeting and signature using a black pen.
This card could easily be adapted to a birthday card, a congratulation card, anniversary card, or even a thinking of you or sympathy card by just changing the greeting on the front. I love when my card designs are versatile, because I never know when I’m going to need a last minute card. All I have to do is add a different stamped tag!

Black & white is always a classic combo, and you nailed it with all the fun patterns you chose. I love that layout, and I remember making a card with you using that layout 🙂 I agree – I think the black patterns work better with the larger blocks. The little touch of silver ribbon is the perfect accent to draw you into the sentiment.
I always love the clean lines and elegance of black and white.
