I have to admit I have several favorites for my Halloween candy. Growing up the neighborhood just several blocks over from us gave out the big Hershey bars. So that was our first stop for trick or treating. Another of the houses was a friend of my grandmother and she always loved seeing our costumes. Some years she’d have popcorn balls or caramel apples made just for us, YUM!
As I look back on my trick-or-treating years (1957-1967; does that date me?), it was one of my favorite holidays. It’s so sad that children today miss out on the adventure of going from door-to-door in the neighborhood to collect all the goodies. Unfortunately, times are much different now for trick-or-treating experiences.
Back to my favorite Halloween candy. Other than chocolate, I loved the candy corn, but only at Halloween. If you look through Facebook and other media posts, there are definitely two camps: those who absolutely love it and those who absolutely hate it. I don’t think there’s much in between. Another of my all time favorites – Sweet Tarts, another decisively divided candy crowd. LOL. I still buy candy corn and Sweet Tarts (when I can find them) at Halloween time. Otherwise, I’m definitely a dark chocolate girl. What’s your favorite candy? Let me know what you’re handing out tonight.
