Oh how I wanted to escape to a tropical destination this past weekend, but it just wasn’t in the “cards.” So instead, I spent the weekend making cards using last week’s FMS349 sketch. Yesterday’s card, see it here, was the one I posted for the challenge, but today’s card was my second choice. I’ve missed getting to the beach this year, so I thought I’d escape with the new Tropical Escape suite in the Stampin’ Up! annual catalog. I love, love this set with it’s fun tropical colors – it makes me think beach sand, ocean breezes and blue, blue waters…sigh.
As I said yesterday, Jennifer’s Timko’s simple card design based on the FMS349 sketch really inspired me to try simple. And you know I tend not to do simple designs.
My card today reminds me of summer breezes in a far off tropical paradise. I used Blushing Bride for the card base. I layered a piece of Whisper White dry embossed with the new Subtle TIEF over Granny Apple Green to frame it. It’s hard to see the texture in the picture, but I think it gives an ocean swept beach look! I stamped the greeting from the Varied Vases stamp set in Shaded Spruce directly onto the DSP, again going for simplicity and only a few layers. I added a few rhinestones for sparkle, just like crystal blue ocean waters. Hmmm…do you think I need some beach time soon, before our warm weathers are over and hurricane season rolls in?
Here’s what I used to make this card.
