I’m trying to make myself create fall card instead of Christmas cards (I love Christmas!), so this weekend’s SGGWWC was a good template for that. I used fall colors, Soft Suede, Tangerine Twist (retired in-color), Early Expresso and Cajun Craze, the fall colors in the north, but definitely not here in southern Texas! We still have flowers blooming and 80+ degree weather.
I pulled out all my retired fall color DSP and found this Retro Fresh from several years ago. If you remember, I hoard my papers and I’m trying to make myself use more of them! I started without the Early Expresso layer under each piece, but it all seemed to blend together. I felt it needed the Early Expresso frame to make it stand out from the Soft Suede background. I’ve seen a number of people using the Swirly Scribbles for wreaths, pumpkins and lots of other creative fall ideas, and this is my interpretation. I used the Beautiful Branches dies for the leaves and added a linen thread multiple bow. I add the retired wood “thanks” that I stocked up on and forgot about until this weekend. If you’re wondering how I tied the bow, see Megan Daves’ 10-second bow maker – one the best buys I’ve made for my card crafting. I tied 100 Christmas bows last year in less than 2 hours! Love it!!
Here’s what I used for this card.

I love fall, and the leaves are changing into the most glorious colors up here now! I am slowly unearthing some hidden treasures in my stash that I need to start using up – isn’t if funny what you discover?? Love how you put all the different elements together, and that twine bow is the perfect finishing touch!
