Yesterday’s card (see here) was a bright birthday card using the SGGW-WC 8-19-16 template. And I promised to share another card using this template. I wanted to do a fall card before I jumped into my Halloween ideas and this template seemed like the perfect one to do just that. I have lots of retired DSP that I promised myself I would use up before buying a lot more. I pulled out my “Into the Woods” DSP (how appropriate for a fall card!). I’m loving the new Swirly Scribbles thinlets! They add so much to a card with very little effort.
Now I have to tell you, I loved the card idea in my head, but boy did I futz with this one. I cut out all three of sizes of swirls in Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede and Daffodil Delight so I could play around with them to get the look I wanted. Not working like I expected so I finally took a break. When I came back to the card, I had an extra piece of DSP I was using, but flipped to the other side sitting next to my card. Okay, hmmm, I think this will work better? Yes! And all the swirly pieces now fit and looked right! I layered the pieces and colors including the “for you” to give it a shadow effect. Watch for another card using the Daffodil Delight flower petals on the other side…just have to work on that idea!
Here’s what I used to make this card:
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
If it doesn’t work the first time, or the second time…keep trying!
Sometimes you just need to try another paper or color to make it all come together!
