Yesterday I shared my card using the beautiful garden of flowers sheet from my Another Great Year Paper Pumpkin kit. Today’s card is the back side of that paper. When I cut the flower garden side in half, almost all of the flowers were on the bottom piece. So I turned the remaining top piece over to get this great Smokey Slate and Whisper White artist brush stripe. I also pulled out my retired Go Wild DSP paper pack and found this great black & white giraffe print (at least that’s what it looks like to me?).
I put the card together and realized I needed something more, an additional color to go with the Island Indigo. After several combinations I decided on the Melon Mambo cut with the Star Blast banner. Then I just had to fill the stars with some bling! Did you notice the small star on the right of the banner? It’s the inner star from the middle star of the banner! And I embossed an even smaller star in the middle using my Lucky Stars embossing folder! I found a smaller star that matched the bigger one without other stars interfering with the image! How cool is that?!
I used the Vertical Greetings stamp set for the birthday greetings and offset the greeting. I took a picture and started writing my blog for today. As I was looking at the picture, I noticed the white band on the right side seemed too stark and the Smokey Slate band on the left blended too much into the top piece. I sat and look at this picture for several minutes and decided I really need to reverse the stripes, putting the white on the left and the Smoky Slate on the right. Here’s what it looks like now:
I had to move the inner framed pieces up on this card to cover the punched hole in the original piece, but I think it is balanced better at the top anyway! So which version do you like better, #1 or #2? Let me know!
Here’s what I used to make this card:
Up tomorrow, polka dots! Come see my creative, but very simple way to create a sentimental love card!
