Spring flowers a bloom

April 17, 2017 Leave a Comment

I wanted to create some spring flower cards and decided to continue using my June 2016 Banner Surprise Paper Pumpkin kit. As I said on Friday, I love the neutral striped card base. This first card uses the FMS270, which I loved, set see my previous card here. I thought it would work perfectly with my new Vertical Greetings stamp.  I tried different colors for this card; I like this pastel combination best. Well okay, the plant is not in pastel, it uses Wild Wasabi, but the other colors on the card are pastels.

I used some retired Blushing Bride stitched ribbon, which I loved and never got a chance to use very much. When I trimmed the striped card base, I had a thin strip left. I positioned it so that the strips were opposite of the card base so it stood out with an interesting touch. My original banner was a little wider, but I smudged the greeting (two much “rocking” going on this thin stamp – LOL). So I cut it closer to the greeting and now it’s barely visible. It also means you can tell it was handmade with love!

My next card was CASEd from two different cards I’d seen (here and here). I combined the elements I liked best. I also wanted to use some of the Succelent Garden DSP before it retired! I added the pop of Calypso Coral with the flower and the frames on the neutral Tip Top Taupe stripes and checks. Sadly again, after I finished this card, the retired list came out and the Botanical Builder framelits (flowers and leaves), the Calypso Coral thick twine and the Succelent Garden DSP are retiring May 31. But there’s still time to get these items if you love this card!

For my last card using this kit I wanted to try something retro using some of my Stampin’ Up! colors I haven’t used in ages – Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and Wild Wasabi. I also used the FMS250 template I used before (I love templates, they make it so easy to design a card!), see the previous card here. I was so pleased how this card evolved. I used the Sunshine Wishes thinlits and Botanical Builders framelits (retiring May 31) to created the layered flower look and the Hello You (also retiring) for the greeting. No stamping on this card, just Big Shot dies. How easy it that?!

Here’s  a last look at all 3 cards I made. In all I’ve created 7 different cards with this Banner Surprise Paper Pumpkin kit and I still have a few pieces left that I’m working on in several card layouts!

Not bad for $20 kit! Intrigued? Take a look at what Paper Pumpkin has to offer and sign up with a prepaid subscription here or a monthly one here (with me as your demo)!

Don’t forget, check out these retiring items.
