So how’s that for a blog title? I used two of my favorite Big Shot dies (So Detailed and Hello You) and the Falling Petals textured embossing folder, to make today’s card! Lot’s of Big Shot use, but oh the wonderful effect for so very little effort!
This is my last card in my subtle series using the Falling In Love DSP paper. I made this a thank you card, but I’m thinking I can easily change it to a sympathy card by just changing my greeting, if the need arises. I love when I design cards that can be used for a variety of occasions, it makes it so worth the effort and enjoyment for me! (As an aside, this card is also in memory of my mom and her would have been 88th birthday today. The Falling Petals look so much like butterflies flying up to heaven for her birthday celebration – love you and miss you mom!).
Directions for creating this card:
- I used a Very Vanilla card base and then the Crumb Cake cardstock as the “frame” layer. When I embossed the paper with the Falling Petals folder, I pulled the paper to the bottom so I would get the more densely embossed area of the folder.
- I cut the So Detailed flower thinlits die in Early Espresso and attached it so that the upper portions was visible, but covered the bottom with a piece of Early Espresso with one of the lacy Falling in Love DSP prints. I just cut off the flower edges so that it fit my card.
- BTW- You will want to get the new die brush to help you quickly remove all the tiny, tiny pieces in the die cut!
- I cut the “thanks” from the Hello You framelits in Soft Sky for a delicate touch that still pops off the neutral papers. If I had to do it again, I’d move my “thanks” over just slightly. When I adhered it, it moved a little to the right of center. It looks fine, but I tend to be a perfectionist and would prefer it more centered. Just shows that it really is a handmade, one of a kind card.
