Well, yes and no. September is traditionally the beginning of fall, but not in Texas with our temperatures still in the high 80’s. And we still have to get through hurricane season…September is usually the most active month for Texas bound hurricanes. Fingers crossed that we escape them this year.
I decided to pull out my unused fall Paper Pumpkin kits (yes, I’m behind but catching up!) to get into the fall season spirit since it seems a little too early for me to do Christmas holiday cards. This week’s cards are versatile enough to work for fall birthdays, thanks you and even Thanksgiving cards by just varying the greetings.
Today’s card was inspired by the FMS352 sketch and I used the remaining pieces of my September 2017-Layered Leaves Paper Pumpkin kit (I used all the other pieces in my cards for this week). It’s a square card which I tend not to do, but I liked the sketch and knew just what to do, just not the final colors.
I made it three ways, varying the card base color. I even asked my dear sweet hubby which one he thought was the better combination which I do occasionally. More on his suggestion later. Here are my 3 cards.
The first one used a Cajun Craze cardbase with the Mossy Meadow and a piece of the Crumb Cake card from the kit. I dry embossed it with the new Tufted TIEF.
The second one used a Very Vanilla card base with the Mossy Meadow frame under the Crumb Cake card from the kit. It was also embossed with the Tufted TIEF.
The third one used a Fresh Fig card base and the Mossy Meadow frame under the embossed Crumb Cake.
My husband’s suggestion? He liked the Crazy Cajun one best, then the Very Vanilla. He didn’t think the “purple and green go together” – LOL…he’s left brain kinda guy. But I had to agree with him, I liked the Cajun Craze card best. What about you, which is your favorite combination?
Here’s the supplies I used, many of them are retired. But there are number of new fall items in the annual and holiday catalogs you can instead to make these cards.
Thanks for stopping by today!
