Nests of Winter with Winterly Tree Tops

January 7, 2025 Leave a Comment

I got the Nests of Winter suite and the Nests of Winter bundle from the September – December mini catalog. It wasn’t a suite I would usually order, but boy am I glad I did! I love this suite and I’m sure you will also. It includes the Winterly Tree Tops stamp set with matching dies, gorgeous Nests of Winter bird scapes DSP, a birch wood embossing folder and gorgeous earth-tone shimmer gems. The DSP colors include Real Red, Copper Clay, Garden Green, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake and Gray Granite.

The first card I made was simple. My card base was Copper Clay with a panel of Last Lagoon, embossed with the BirchWood folder. The DSP has a multitude of gorgeous birds you can die cut or fuzzy cut out. I die cut the pretty blue birds sitting on the red berry branches. (Sorry, I’m not a bird or plant person, so I have no idea what kind of birds they are, or what kind of plant branch they are sitting on! If you know, let me know!).

This second card uses one of the new dies that creates a border of evergreen branches. It was die cut from vellum. The card base is Misty Moonlight, and the robin is die-cut along with the berry branches behind him…no fussy cutting for this card. The tag uses a piece of Gray Granite and Tuxedo Black Memento ink. The pieces are layered onto the card base for a stunning, but easy, card due to all the die cutting.

The third card was fun to make. Using the negative die-cut border piece from the above card as a stencil, I taped it on a Basic White piece. Using a Blending Brush, I applied Mossy Meadow ink blending until I got a dark layer. Once you like the intensity of the Mossy Meadow color, turn the stencil 180° and lightly blend the ink so you create a lighter color layer. Be sure to save your stencil for other cards! And you can try this technique with other die cuts you have!

Here’s the die to cut the evergreen border and the resulting stencil to use for making this card.

I have so many card ideas for this DSP. I’ll be sure to share them later. The reverse side of the DSP has geometric patterns to use year-round, so I know you will like it! Take another look at your September – December Mini catalog for retiring items!

Thanks for stopping by today. If you don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours. Just hop over to my site to shop. Hugs to all of you, and happy stamping!
