Not sure what to get that special person for Valentine’s Day? And a box of candy or flowers just doesn’t seem to be the right thing? How about a gift card to their favorite place – iTunes (for music or a movie), Starbuck’s for some coffee, and maybe one for a special dinner? Of course, you can’t just put the gift card into just any old gift card holder, not for Valentine’s Day! You’ll need an over the top holder to really WOW that special someone. And these two version are just fit the special occasion!
I made the one on the left and just as I finished it, somehow I stuck my finger in the Real Red ink pad and smudged the card as I picked it up (no, it wasn’t blood from a scissor cut, although I’ve done that before, too!)! OH NO, have you done that before??!! Of course, if I had done what I always tell my class and customers, close the pad up as soon as you are finished to avoid these mistakes! I decided to show you the one with it’s “boo-boo” anyway, and I created another one with a little different papers and hearts that I could give to someone! This time I was really, really careful that all my ink pads on my craft table were closed and no ink on my fingers! I created a 2-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ envelope using my Envelope punch board and layered in on a single layer of Whisper White paper. I punched and die cut lots of different sized hearts from lots of leftover papers and played around with their placement.
When you pull out the large heart, it’s attached to a card and you can add your gift card to the back. It slides in and out of the envelope. I used that Trio Curvy Corner punch again, this time with the cute open trim. Here’s what you need to make these, in addition to scraps of any paper you want for the hearts – mine are from a number of different papers and paper packs from the last several years. Enjoy making these, they are easy and fun to combine all different sizes of hearts and papers.
