Kid’s Birthday Bonanza Triple-fold cards

February 3, 2021 Leave a Comment

I learned another way to use Stampin’ Up! wonderful DSP, rather than hoard them. Instead of the standard cardstock card base, use your favorite DSP! All you need is a piece of 5-1/2″ x 12″ piece of your favorite DSP, a few scraps of matching cardstock colors and a stamp set. You can also use your favorite punches or dies to embellish the cards.

I love the retired Birthday Bonanza DSP and I needed a number of birthday cards for kids. A great combination for a card! I chose 3 of the fun animal prints – the Koala bear, The TouCan, and the Lion King (my names – you understand why is a little bit). Plus I needed a fun card for one of my cousins of an “older” age so I chose the ice cream cones/candles DSP (I’ll post this one tomorrow). Once you decide on which side is the inside, you will score the DSP along the 12″ side at: 4-1/4″ (this will be the inside piece), 7-1/4″ and 10-1/4″. Be sure to watch if you have a one direction print, which I did. The first card I scored, the Toucans were upside down, so I had to cut another piece. You will fold the card accordion style to get a standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ card.

This first card is for my youngest granddaughter’s birthday – Dziadzi (grandpa in Polish) chose this one for her. I die cut several of the Toucan from the DSP and fussy cut some more. The frames are die cut from Bermuda Bay with the Rectangle Stitched dies. I also cut out the pieces of the toucan that the frame covered and added it on top of the frame. On the ensuing layers, I layered the toucan so they overlapped when the card was closed. After I was finished and about to mail the card, I added a few retired candy dots (oh my….very long retired!) for fun, but I forget to take a picture of that version. Here’s my closed card.

Here’s the card as it opens, you can see the layered Toucan underneath.

I can’t wait to find out what our 7 year old granddaughter thinks of her birthday card! I appropriately name the card “You TouCan Celebrate” birthday card!

I made two more kids cards for later use. Here’s the “Lion King” card.

And here’s the Koala bear birthday card.

Aren’t these such fun and cute cards?! The DSP makes them so much easier and you’re using your gorgeous DSP up so you can buy more new ones! At least that’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

As I said, I used my retired Bonanza Birthday suite to make these cards along with some of my staple supplies. But you can use any DSP this way, flowers, Valentine’ Day, Christmas…the variations are limitless. And easy! Just don’t put too many layers or embellishments on the inside or it won’t lay flat for mailing.

I hope you try out this triple fold card technique with some of your DSP! Thanks for stopping by today. Don’t forget Sale-a-bration is going on through February 28. You can earn free stamp sets and DSP with your qualified purchases.

Hugs to all of you, and happy stamping!
