Isn’t it fun when you try something new and it actually works? The first time?! I got my first set of blending brushes yesterday and I tried them out immediately on a simple card I had planned on my craft table. I envisioned a Balmy Blue circle (cold, artic feeling) to show off my Penguin Playmates.
I’m so excited that the vision in my head worked by following a few blending brush tips from Patty Bennett. OMG-I love these blending brushes! They are so soft they feel incredible on my face…hmm…a makeup brush? I might even try that with one of them. I’ll let you know how that works!
Anyway, here’s the card I had in my head for a week – what do you think? I’m jumping up and down since my FIRST attempt worked! Usually, I have to try a new technique several times before I’m happy with the effect. Have you tried using the new blending brushes? What was your experience with them? Do you love them as much as I do? I found them so much easier to use than our old sponges or sponge daubers to get the effect I wanted on my cards!
I made my mask by die cutting a circle with the Layering Circle dies and used Post-It tabbies to hold it down on the card. I’m in love and this card turned out so stinking cute in my opinion! Now that I had my confidence up, I cut an oval shape for a FMS#498 challenge card.
I used my Penguin Builder punch to cut out the penguin then fussy cut out a hat to add to his head. He just needed a hat to stay warm. I also fussy cut the fox out from the side of the paper. You can’t tell but he’s only half there. What a great way to use those “half images” on then Penguin Playmates DSP!
Anyway, you’ll be seeing lots more creations using my new blending brush skills! Back to my crafting table to try an ombre color effect for my Delicate Dahlias stamp set. Wish me luck since this is a little more complex effect to get it right.
I hope you have a great Friday and weekend! Our daughter and her family coming to celebrate her birthday (belatedly and I won’t divulge what #…we can’t be old enough to have a “child” that old – who is also a very successful and beloved OB/GYN doctor by her patients)!
Thanks for stopping by today. If you don’t have a demonstrator, I’d love to be yours. Just hop over to my site to shop. Hugs to all of you, and happy stamping!

Great job with the blending brushes. You created a wonderful little scene. I love using up those bits and pieces of images that are on the sides of the DSP. The little fox really worked on your card front, and who really knew he was half there. Thanks for inspiring and sharing.

Thanks Penny! I love this “new” technique for my card making! And, yes, it’s fun trying to use every little bit up! Makes me think out of the box for creativity.

Thanks Karren! I look forward to the FMS challenge every week. Even though I don’t always post a card the sketches inspire my creativity each week.
