It’s been a while since I had time and inspiration, but I finally had a chance to create 2 cards for 2 different challenges this weekend – WooHoo (see yesterday’s card here). Today’s card was for Connie Stewart’s Stamping Girls Gone Wild 3-5-16 weekend challenge’s template that spoke to me…actually it screamed at me! I had a idea, yes, it worked! Love it when that happens! Here’s my card for this weekend’s SGGW challenge:
I’ve had this retired Kaleidoscope paper sitting on my crafting table for several weeks now. It’s one of my favorite with the Bermuda Bay and polka dots, what’s not to love?! I’ve played with many ideas and templates, nothing seemed to just pop, until Saturday afternoon. It’s such a simple card but it’s so cheery and bright, just perfect for a special birthday! I used Bermuda Bay as the base with the polka dot paper from the retired Kaleidoscope paper. And the pop of Crushed Curry for the hat with its pompom (made with the matching baker’s twine tied really, really small-whew!) makes me smile.
After I got the entire card together, I realized my “Hello” stamp from the Sale-a-bration set wouldn’t fit onto any shape and still look okay on the card. So I experimented and found that I could use Versamark ink and White embossing powder to heat emboss the greeting directly onto the card! I’m so glad it worked (there a slight warp in the card from the heat embossing gun, but I can overlook that!). Now…who to give this one to in my family? Family, any volunteers among you to receive this on your birthday?
Here’s the supplies I used:
