This year’s graduates have been greatly disappointed by not being able to walk to get their diplomas. They look forward to this and consider it one of the highlights of their young lives. When one of my nieces went home for spring break, she didn’t realize she wouldn’t return to Baylor University. She stayed home and finished her final classes on online due to the pandemic. I know she was disappointed, but she did get to be with her mom (my sister) and her twin (who graduated last year). They just flew up this weekend from Florida to clean out her dorm room, turn in all her things and check out to “graduate” and pick up her car. Baylor did post each graduate’s name on their huge electronic billboard at the stadium – it was fun to see the picture she sent me. But it’s still nothing like the real ceremony of walking across the stage to collect your bachelor’s degree. My understanding is that it may occur later in the year.
Meanwhile, I wanted to created a graduation card that reflected the times and honored her graduation. As I was pondering Baylor’s colors – Green & Gold, I looked at my crafting table and noticed my Tropical Oasis Memories and More cards. I saw the one that said “the best is yet to come” which seemed really appropriate given that graduation is just a step on the way to bigger and better things. And it helped that it was tropical leaves because she lives in Florida! It made my creating this card so easy and fun to design! Here’s her card:
On the inside I used several stamp sets, one a long retired “Pomp & Circumstance” set (I’ve kept this because I love the greetings and have used it multiple times). And the fun “Nine Lives” since she has several kitties at home (and we also have kitties!).
Of course I used Baylor University’s color of green (Shaded Spruce) and gold (Daffodil Delight). As I was finishing up I notice a small smudge of the Shaded Spruce on the right. So to cover it, I stamped two kitty paws (for our kitties and hers’), worked great! She’s on her way home with her mom and sister and I hope this makes it to the house before they get home….it’s a 1200 mile drive…long way.
I really love using the various Stampin’ Up! Memories & More cards from the various collections. It’s fun to create cards using them! Interested in what I used to create this card? What kinds of cards and projects have you made with your Memories & More cards?
Thanks for stopping by today. Back to my crafting table to create more things! I love being retired and having so much “confinement” time to craft!
