Yup, I have those days, do you? I was supposed to submit yesterday’s card to FMS422 first thing in the morning. But I got to working on several other things and at 9:30 pm Monday night, I realized I forgot to enter it into the challenge…ah, my best laid plans went belly up! I did have a great time creating both of the cards with that template. If you missed them, see them here.
Today’s cards used more of the May-2017 Sprinkled with Love Paper Pumpkin kit. I do have to admit, this kit wasn’t one of my favorite. But I was determined to use it to make cards I loved.
First up, I created this card around the greeting on the white tag, the “icing” embellishment from the kit and enhanced it with the Stitched Shapes Squares. I added two of the retired Urban Underground metal stars and some of the kit’s twine. So simple, but it makes such a dramatic statement! I love it! What do you think?
Next card I used the pink donut, but disguised it with paper doilies cut in half with 3 halves to fill underneath it. I used the Stitched Shapes Square again, but this time a solid one that I embossed with the Subtle folder and place it on the diagonal. I pulled a tag from the old, retired “Cupcakes & Carousel” embellishment kits. I did say I was digging through my retired stash to use it up! The greeting comes from Humming Along stamp set. I popped the kit’s flower on top of a Calypso Coral scalloped circle with a Gold Faceted Gem in the center. A beautifully elegant and sweet card. What do you think?
Then I tackled the original blue round design card. I cut it apart to use the front with its design and added a Stitched Nested Labels and Stitched Shapes square with my banner greeting from Amazing Life stamp set on top. I cut a small piece of retired jute twine and frayed the ends for a more masculine flare. Again, simple card, but dramatic presentation for your favorite guy!
This last card uses the circle card base from the kit, as is. Well, not quite. I embossed the front with Falling Petals embossing folder (I think it looks like hearts and that’s how I always use it – LOL!). I cut the Calypso Coral heart, embossed it with the Subtle folder. I layered on a Lace Doily, then a heart punched from this years From My Heart DSP with one of the pink hearts from the kit. I stamped the greeting using the Paper Pumpkin stamp set.
Inside, I layered a White Tea Lace doily over the hole, then the largest Stitched Shapes circle so that you can stamp or write an inside greeting.
All the cards will fit into the Soft Suede and White striped square envelopes. My cards are cut at 4-1/4″ x 4-1/2″, so not quite square, but fit my layout a little better. So when I finished these alternative cards this weekend, I was ecstatic with my results. I hope you are too and it inspires you to try a Paper Pumpkin kit in the near future!
Thanks for stopping by today! Happy stamping and get your Paper Pumpkin kit now! March’s kit has two stamp sets in celebration of Paper Pumpkin’s 7th anniversary.

You have forever renewed my faith in human nature and Paper Pumpkin! Thank you for that. I don’t know why I haven’t seen this before, but, am so glad I see it now! I, TOO, didn’t care for this kit. I opened the box, saw what was inside, looked on Pinterest, and still had no idea what to do! It has been laying in the box this whole time! Awful! So, you see why I’m happy to see your post today. I’m sorry about your best laid plans, but so grateful you used other projects! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sending this out today.
Thank you for such a wonderful compliment. I’m so glad this helped you! I’ve been a dedicated Paper Pumpkin kit subscriber since the beginning and they have greatly improved. But even so at times I still let them sit because I’m stumped how to use them. I’m renewing my determination this year to use my old Paper Pumpkin kits [and my new ones!] to make some really fun cards. Coming up in the next several days, I will share more alternatives for other Paper Pumpkin kits! I hope I can continue to inspire you to get those boxes out and start creating! Janice B at JB Stamper.
