Last Friday I got to celebrate with some dear friends of mine who I’ve known for over 35 years now. Since three of our birthdays are within 2 weeks of each other during January-February, we try to get together each year for a birthday lunch. The fourth friend’s 65th birthday was late November (you can see the card I sent her here), but we always celebrate her birthday with ours.
This year we celebrated two 65th birthdays, a 75th and a 76th birthday (I guess that’s what happens after 35+ years!). Today’s card I’m sharing (made using the FMS272 sketch) is for my friend’s 75th birthday this week.
I decided to use soft colors for her card, including some retired colors, but they just perfect for what I had in mind for her. She wears beautiful outfits with matching jewelry (that she makes!) in these colors (Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Coastal Cabana, and Baked Brown Sugar), so I knew she’d enjoy the color combination. I have a hard time just leaving the background plain, so I embossed it using the Falling Petals folder. I like the look of the delicate flowers/hearts to give texture and interest.
Here’s the dimensions for the card:
- Crisp Cantaloupe card base cut 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ folded in half
- Very Vanilla cut 5″ x 3-3/4″
- Scraps of Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Baked Brown Sugar for the various die cut shapes
Here’s the supplies I used for the card (some retired now, but you can easily substitute others):
Thanks for stopping by today, and Happy Birthday to all my “Lipid Lovelies” (our name we gave to ourselves all those many years ago when we worked together doing cardiovascular research).

Oh I love this! The colours you have used combined with the heart die is really sweet! Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
