A card that doubles as gift card holder? YES

Buying gifts during this time is a little more difficult than usual. And not knowing what someone needs during these strange times calls for a gift card. But why use a plain holder when you can easily make a unique and festive card that’s also a gift card holder?! #RondaWade demonstrated this gift holder idea several weeks ago and I loved it. So much so I made several – a fall one, Christmas one and a birthday one. The only take 10 minutes or less to make, so even if you need something at the last minute, you can make one of this to make your gift card special.

Since I’ve been working on fall cards, this was the first one I made.

I’m still using the Gilded Autumn DSP, but I’ll need to order more since I’m using a lot of it! The card base is a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Mint Macaron, not the usual card. the Early Espresso layer is embossed with the Tasteful Textile folder. The Center part is a piece of the DSP cut 4-1/2″ x 9-3/4″ and scored at 3-1/4″ and 6-1/2″ to create the card opening and gift card holder. See the cutout on the left where the Mint Macaron DSP is peaking through? That’s where you slip in your gift card. Ingenious design Ronda, thanks!!

I loved this idea so much, I couldn’t stop at just one! I also made one for Christmas. I used my retired paper since I haven’t order my new Christmas DSP yet. I love this retired paper and got extra just before it retired.

Here’s the inside – so easy, yet perfect for my holiday gifts this year!

And here’s my birthday version using the gorgeous World of Good DSP which is a great guy card!

If you want make lots of these from your Stampin’ UP! DSP, you can also reduce the size to a 4″ x 9-3/4″ piece and you’ll get 3 out of one 12″ x 12″ sheet of DSP. Give it a try, you’ll love these and so will your recipient!

I hope you had a great week and if you were in the path of the tropical storm that you had minimal damage and flooding. We are grateful that it never made it to the predicted Hurricane 1 status, but the rain did cause a lot of flooding. Have a great weekend crafting and trying your hand at making one of these gift holder cards. If you need specific directions, email me and I’ll send them to you!
