Party with Balloon Adventures – SGGW-wc

I’m having another great weekend creating birthday cards in my craft room (even better that it’s a long, holiday weekend!). Continuing on my mission to create lots of birthday cards, I used Connie Stewart’s Facebook SGGW weekend challenge to create 2 cards. The first one is a simpler version with just paper and stamping, although I did use a masking technique to stamp the balloons.

One note if you use this technique – be sure remove the temporary adhesive from the card where your mask was attached! I forgot and that’s why you see the few missing ink spots on the Emerald Envy and Tangerine Tango balloons. You’d think by now I’d remember those little details! Masking is really easy. I punched two of the balloons from plain typing paper, laid out my polymer stamps where I wanted them on the Whisper White top and put the two outside templates down before I stamped the back Pacific Point balloon. Then I removed the templates (be sure to make sure there’s not adhesive stuck to the card!) and stamped each of the other balloons. I used a blender pen to fill in the the small area where the stamped images didn’t meet on the back balloon. Sounds difficult, but very simple!

My second version has punched out balloons from the “Party Animal” DSP and Pacific Point enamel shapes for the accents. I added twine for the balloon strings. So this one was also simple, but has more dimension since the middle balloon is popped up on dimensionals.

Here’s how to make this card:

  • Tangerine Tango card base, cut 4-1/4″ x 8-1/2″ and folded in half
  • Whisper White cut at 3″ x 4″
  • Pacific Point cut at 2-1/4″ x 4″
  • Party Animal DSP cut at 2-1/8″ x 4″
  • Scrap of Whisper White and Pacific Point for the Happy Birthday tags

These are the supplies you’ll need to make this card. Have you noticed that many of my birthday cards are “bright, bright, bright”?? I need to find a few, more subtle papers for some “less in your face” birthday congratulations!

Remember with each $50 order during Sale-a-bration you get a FREE Sale-a-bration item. I’d suggest the versatile “Any Occasions” stamp set as once choice since it has a variety of great sayings for many occasions, including birthdays! Come back Monday to see the other birthday card I made using that stamp set.

Both cards are so fun! I love how the look changes depending on whether you stamped the balloons or used DSP. That stamp set is at the top of my wishlist from the new occasions catalog 🙂
